Fishing has continued to evolve over the years. The equipment used for fishing has become more sophisticated to make fishing more efficient. The act of fishing itself has evolved over the years too. However, fishing is no longer practiced solely as a source of food, sports fishing is becoming popular especially in countries that have beaches. Sports fishing is not only done for fun, it is also an exercise for the body. Lake Erie is found in North America and it is the fourth-largest of the 5 largest lakes in North America. It is home to many fresh water fish that are used for commercial purposes. During the spring season, sports fishing on Lake Erie may not be very productive. This is because the lake remains cold even after the winter. Shore fishing is the most common during the spring. The fish caught in the spring season include perch, smallmouth bass, and rock bass. Walleye fishing can be done at night from the shore mainly in the month of April. The walleye fish are more common in the lake in summer, beginning from July all the way to September. Summer is also a popular time for Lake Erie game fishing for the steel head and lake trout. These two are mainly found late in the summer when the fish have gone deeper in the lake. During the fall, the walleye may remain on the shores of the lake, but they may begin disappearing in September. Game fishing for steel head and salmon is more popular in the months of September and October.
During the winter, not much fishing is done on the lake. Game fishing is discouraged because the ice forms dunes on the shore. This is because the winds push the ice towards the shore. The ice dunes are dangerous because they make it impossible for you to see the edge of the water. Ice fishing on the lake is only done on Persque Isle Bay. Sometimes, there are open waters at the mouths of tributaries where game fishing can be done. The main kind of fish captured at this time is the steelhead though they are not very easy to come by.
Conclusion
Lake Erie is one of the largest lakes in North America. This is one of the reasons why many people prefer to do game fishing on this lake. Fishing on Lake Erie can be done in all the seasons only that during winter, only a few fish can be caught. The best seasons for catching fish is summer and fall. This is because at this time of the year there is more variety of fish that can be caught. It is also during these two seasons that the fish can be caught at the shore and in the deep waters.
